Becheve Nature Reserve

Becheve Nature Reserve

The Becheve Nature Reserve is one of Obudu Mountain Resort’s most treasured ecological sanctuaries. Spanning over 65 hectares, this conservation forest was established to protect endangered plant species and preserve the natural biodiversity of the Obudu Plateau. Named after the Becheve village that once occupied the area, the reserve is now managed by the Obudu Conservation Centre and supported by the Nigerian Conservation Foundation. At its entrance lies a thriving tree nursery, where indigenous trees are cultivated and reintroduced into the forest to combat deforestation and promote ecological balance. Visitors to the reserve are treated to a rich tapestry of flora and fauna, including rare orchids, medicinal plants, and towering hardwoods. The reserve is also home to monkeys, butterflies, and a variety of bird species, making it a paradise for wildlife enthusiasts and researchers. Walking through the reserve is like stepping into a living classroom, and each trail reveals a new lesson in ecology, conservation, and the interconnectedness of life. The Becheve Nature Reserve not only supports environmental sustainability but also offers guests a chance to reconnect with nature in its purest form. It’s a place of learning, healing, and awe.
